Local groups are a great opportunity to meet other people in similar situations.

They are fun and informal, run by qualified staff who can offer support and information if needed.

Meeting other people going through similar experiences to ourselves is an important part of managing any difficulties.

These groups offer opportunities to meet other people with dementia, make friends and have fun.

the Lawrence Centre
Based in central Wells, Somerset, The Lawrence Centre is a community-centred charity providing day opportunities for older people, including those living with health issues and memory loss in an accessible and enjoyable environment for members to relax, socialise, enjoy activities and support, every weekday and one Saturday per month.

Heads Up – Wells

A range of enjoyable and stimulating activities are offered for people affected by dementia

Groups are run every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10 a.m. to 3.30p.m. with a 2 course lunch and refreshments provided. the day-care consists of creative activities, including woodwork and pottery, reminiscence activities, music and singing, puzzles and games within a welcoming environment..

The activities that are provided offer social interaction, stimulation and a sense of achievement; and are based on individual needs and interests.

Somerset Arts Well -Music For Wellbeing

A relaxed and inclusive community group meeting in the centre of Wells to make music through singing and playing drums. For everyone living with memory loss, dementia and learning disability in the happy and supportive environment of Seagar Hall. £5 per person including refreshments. Group

Wells Memory Loss Carers group, run by the Somerset NHS Foundation Trust Carers Assessment Service. This friendly group for carers of someone with memory loss takes place once a month on a Wednesday 1.30-3pm at The Bridge, Priory Health Park, Wells. We regularly have speakers and wellbeing sessions and offer a friendly group for carer support, meeting others who may be in similar situations.

Wells Talking Cafe

This is an informal drop-in cafe, where people meet and chat in the relaxed atmosphere. We have a good nucleus of regulars, who mingle happily with the other folk who attend on Fridays.

A Health Connector is usually there every week and people can book an appointment to have a quiet, private chat with them if needed.

Come and join us at the Portway Annexe, BA5 2QF every Friday morning 1030- 12pm.

Heads Up Carer’s Group

Heads Up offers a carers support group in Wells on the 4th Wednesday of every month, which is held in the Swan Hotel, Sadler Street form 1030am to 1230pm. This is an opportunity for carers of people living with dementia to meet in a relaxed atmosphere over a cup of tea, with other carers and receive advice, guidance and support.
